A collection of pictures from my gourmet foodie trip in the south of France. Let's just say that they really like their Foie Gras there, and I succumbed to the temptation...on more than one occasion.
Couer (Marseille)
A message to inspire us all.
Une Petit Fille (Marseille)
Not to worry, Dad's got the shoelace situation covered.
Creature from the Planet Viniferon (Le Luc)
Taken at the Chateau La Mascaronne winery in Provence. I have no idea what type of dead tree this was, but it definitely looks like an alien. "Take us to your leader!  We wish to sample Grenache/Syrah Roses"
Chilling at the Chateau des Fines Roches (Châteauneuf du Pape)
Sunny day. Beautiful lunch. Châteauneuf Du Pape (Pope's new house) is 8 miles from Avignon, where the Papacy was actually located for 100 years. The town of Châteauneuf Du Pape and the wine appellation were both branded as such in the late 1920's. The triumph of Marketing over Geography. Not that Châteauneuf du Papes aren't good wines.
Pablo in Charge (Marseille)
Our Gourmet Food Tour Host holds forth at Lauracee restaurant in Marseille. Can we down a whole Magnum of Bubbles before our Plats arrive? Of course we can!

On The Square (Arles)
Right across from the Roman colosseum. Unfortunately, the Brasserie owner wouldn't let us sit there unless we were going to buy lunch in addition to drinking. So, we had to have our Aperol Spritz's down the street. It's the French!
Hanging with Vincent (Arles, France)
Yes, the actual Langlois Bridge that Van Gogh painted. A little the worse for wear. Also, it was overcast that day too, so this was the best I could do under the circumstances. .
Checking the Phone (Arles)
Just arrived on the train and already checking her Tik Tok feed. At least that's the story I'm going with for now.

Medieval Carcassonne (Carcassonne, France)
A completely restored Medieval city up on the hill. Home of incredible cassoulet, the specialty of the region. Also the site of my accidental midnight roll down the hill of (it's a funny story - after the fact).
Domaine Rouge Bleu winery (Provence)
A lovely family-owned winery in the south of France. Nice wines, as well.

Chateau Pape Clement (Pessac)
Yes, there's big money in those Left Bank Bordeaux's. Enough to pay for a life-size Rolls Royce sculpture in front of your Chateau, which - just for good measure - is named after a Pope.
Chateau Sales (Pomerol)
Now for the Right Bank. Another day. Another 400-year-old Chateau. Another wine tasting. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and make your way through it.
Chateau Cadet Bon (St. Emillion)
Also on the Right Bank. So much wine to drink. Not enough time.
Bordeaux-St-Jean Train Station (Bordeaux)
You have to love these beautiful turn-of-the-century train stations. Not to mention the TGVs that go 200 mph. This was the end of my trip in the south of France. From here it was on to Paris.
