Country Church (Coinjock, NC)

Yes, there is a town called Coinjock on the coast of North Carolina. Evidently, Coinjock comes from Native American phrase meaning "Place of the Blueberry bogs". This church is actually on the Caratoke highway along the eastern edge of the Currituck Sound. No doubt another term of Native American origin .

Reid's Electric (Independence, Mississippi)

Chavalitas' Taqueria (Eagle Lake, Texas)

In the great state of Texas, it's pretty hard to throw a rock and not hit a Tex-Mex restaurant.  Unfortunately, it appears that Chavalitas' Taqueria is one of the few that didn't make it - for reasons unknown to yours truly.

Old Hobby Air Terminal (Houston, Texas)

A stunning Art Deco building from the glory days air travel. No X-rays..no TSA..no mile walk to the gate. And you got to keep your belt and shoes on.

Behind the Green Door (Natchez, Mississippi)

Lots of peeling paint and character. Extra credit for those old enough to get the reference in this picture's title.

Texas Fashion (Wilson, North Carolina)

That's right - The defunct Texas Fashion is in Wilson, North Carolina. Previously a tire store judging by the peeling paint above the garage door.

Love Temple (East Texas)

Somewhere on Highway 59. It was 10 or 11a.m. and this old building was gleaming in the morning light. Since this isn't ancient Rome, we'll assume that there's nothing salacious going on at the Love Temple.

North Shore Hydraulics (Independence, Mississippi)

For all your Hydraulic needs. This Art Deco-ish gem is just 3 miles south of the Reid Electric photo above. And in between the two is the cemetery where I shot my Chillin' with Jesus photo. No wonder I was late getting to Memphis that afternoon.
