Travels in Greece
The pictures in this Collection are from a trip to Greece in 2018. Great food..interesting people..lots of history. And for reasons I haven't completely figured out, they really love Oprah Winfrey. They're always dancing, singing, breaking plates and then shouting her name. Go figure!
Restoring Democracy (Athens, Greece)
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. The Parthenon is undergoing a serious restoration, so this is what you get for a picture. If you want to see a completely full-size facsimile without scaffolding, go to Nashville, Tennessee.

Now some of you may take exception to the title and say that the Parthenon wasn't the seat of Athenian Democracy since it was a temple to Athena. The real voting action took place every month or so on the Pynx Hill. If this kind of thing tends to bug you too much, we have a word to describe you - Pedantic.

Standing Guard (Athens, Greece)
Standing guard at the Presidential Place. Now you have to be secure in yourself to stand guard in front of hundreds of tourists while wearing a skirt, white hosiery and giant pom poms on your shoes. Then again, having a rifle doesn't hurt.
Philosophy 101 (Athens, Greece)
From the National Archaeological Museum. At least I think these were Philosophers. They look smart enough.
Goats' Heads - not yet Soup (Athens, Greece)
OK, so it's not for everyone. I was walking through the Athens Market and there they were. Was I ever going to get another chance to photograph a tray of goats' heads? Probably not. There's got to be some Goth Millennial out there that wants to hang a copy of this on their wall. And this is what they look like After I de-saturated the reds using Photoshop.

Flowers on the Patio (Delphi, Greece)
There, is that better? Nothing like having your aesthetic palate whipsawed back and forth. It was a bright sunny 78-degree (25.5 degrees Celsius) day on the patio of this restaurant on the way to Delphi. I could have stayed there all afternoon. I could have had a couple more Aperol Spritz's.
Old Navplion (Navplion, Greece)
A beautiful seaport town in the southern Peloponnese. If it looks more Italian than Greek, that's because it was part of the Republic of Venice on and off from the 4th Crusade until 1715. This is the view from our balcony. Nice work if you can get it.
Table for Two (Navplion, Greece)
Just waiting for someone to come along. This was on a very narrow side street in Navplion, so narrow that I was backing into the shop across the street to get the shot. Fortunately, the lovely girl in the store decided it needed more color, so she added the yellow cushions to help with the photo.
