With these photos, I wanted to create images that were all flattened foreground. Almost as if they were abstracted in some way.
Palm Fronds (Houston, Texas)
At least I think it was a palm-like plant. I futzed with the tone curve considerably in order to (hopefully) flatten the perceived depth and make the picture slightly abstract.
Hubcaps (Houston, TX)
An oldie but goldie, this was taken at a ramshackle shop on the feeder road of Highway 59. The owner spoke almost no English, but was OK with letting me take a photo. I knew that High School Spanish would pay off one day. I wanted to do a portrait of him, but he wouldn't go for it.
Daisies (Camden, Maine)
I wanted to significantly stylize and abstract these.
Tiled Wall (Istanbul, Turkey)
This may have been part of a wall of a very small Mosque in Old Town Istanbul.
Padlocks in Montmartre (Paris, France)
Not on the bridge over the Seine, but on the fence railing in front of Sacre Couer. We will assume that they achieve the same results
